Low Intensity Practice for Children and Young People Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
2-day workshop for Trainee CYP Senior Wellbeing Practitioners
14th and 15th of May 2024 (face to face and online)
Course details
In collaboration with the Maudsley National and Specialist OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Clinic and colleagues from The University of Oxford leading on Parent Led CBT, this intensive 2-day workshop provides an overview of OCD in CYP and cutting-edge low intensity assessment and interventions for both younger children and adolescents as well as workbooks to support interventions. The course is suitable for Trainee CYP Senior Wellbeing Practitioners and their supervisors working in MHSTs or CYP community settings. Attendees should have training and/or experience delivering parent-led CBT for child anxiety problems.

Aims
• To understand and identify the symptoms of OCD as part of a low intensity assessment
• To understand the maintaining mechanisms in OCD, and how to explain this to CYP and their families (including how families manage OCD)
• To collaboratively set and monitor goals to break the vicious cycle of OCD
• To understand how to deliver effective guided self-help interventions for mild to moderate OCD including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
• To involve families or carers in therapy as appropriate
• To deliver Parent-Led CBT for OCD in young children
• To understand and support effective relapse prevention strategies
• To understand pathways for higher intensity/ complex cases
