Cedar Create | Enhanced Clinical Practice Workshop for PWP’s & MHWP | Perinatal
Perinatal Mental Health & Low-intensity Practice (PWP and MHWP Enhanced Clinical Practice Workshop)
Our CPD workshops for PWPs and MHWPs offer engaging, practice-focused learning designed to strengthen both clinical knowledge and practical skills. Grounded in the Declarative-Procedural-Reflective (DPR) Model of Therapist Skill Development (Bennett-Levy, 2006), these workshops go beyond the delivery of information to support meaningful professional growth. Participants will have the opportunity to develop and consolidate their declarative knowledge (what we know), strengthen their procedural skills (what we do in practice), and engage in structured reflection to enhance clinical decision-making and competence.
Each workshop uses a range of interactive teaching methods including discussion, case examples, skills practice, and reflective exercises. This approach enables participants to translate learning directly into their clinical work and build confidence in applying evidence-based interventions with diverse client groups. Workshops provide opportunities to learn collaboratively, share good practice with peers, and develop confidence in applying new knowledge and skills within everyday clinical work.
Whether you are seeking to refresh existing skills, develop expertise in a particular clinical area, or enhance your reflective practice, these workshops offer a supportive and stimulating space for professional development.
Supporting perinatal mental health remains a key national priority, with increasing recognition of the needs of both women and their partners during the perinatal period. This workshop is designed to enhance the confidence, knowledge, and clinical competence of qualified Adult Psychological Practitioners in the assessment and treatment of common mental health difficulties experienced during pregnancy and the postnatal period. Participants will develop an understanding of the unique psychological, social, and physiological factors that can influence mental health during the perinatal period, and how these can impact the presentation of common mental health difficulties.
The workshop will explore key considerations for low-intensity assessment, including how to identify and differentiate common perinatal mental health presentations, recognise additional vulnerabilities, and conduct effective risk assessments, with a particular focus on identifying and responding to clinical “red flags”. The evidence base for low-intensity interventions within perinatal mental health will be explored, alongside practical adaptations that can support engagement and improve treatment outcomes for this patient group. Participants will consider treatment planning, the rationale for different intervention approaches, and how to determine when a patient may require high-intensity support, specialist perinatal services, or alternative sources of support. Throughout the workshop there will be opportunities to reflect on practice, discuss common challenges encountered by both practitioners and patients, and share practical strategies for overcoming barriers to effective engagement and treatment. By the end of the session, practitioners will feel more confident in delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based care to patients in the perinatal period.
This workshop will be held via Zoom on 24/11/2026 between 09:30am to 16:30pm. Please book your place here for £125 per person:
