SUMMARY:Cedar Create | Eco-Systemic Psychotherapy Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Join Lisa Lea-Weston for an ecosystemic psychotherapy workshop\, facilitated by Professor Hannah Sherbersky and Roger Duncan on 23rd June 2026. \nThis session will explore what it means to take supervisory practice into natural settings\, inviting participants to consider how working outdoors can shape reflection\, connection\, and insight. It will examine the ways in which nature can support thinking and feeling across both human systems and the wider ecological world. \nThrough a blend of practical\, reflective\, experiential\, and creative approaches\, the day will offer opportunities to engage directly with these ideas. Lisa will draw on case studies from her work supervising therapists\, as well as senior leaders in education and other helping professions\, illustrating how nature-informed practice can unfold in diverse contexts. \nThe course is designed for supervisors who are curious about working in nature\, as well as those already doing so who wish to deepen their inquiry and explore emerging questions. Participants will be invited to step outside—both literally and metaphorically—and to consider how engaging with the natural environment can expand and enrich supervisory practice. \nThis workshop will be held online via Zoom on 23rd June 2026 from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Places cost £125 per person. \nYou can book a place on this workshop by following this link.

SUMMARY:Enhancing Clinical Practice Workshop | LICBT Supervision Top-up (PWP workshop) | Tuesday 12th May 2026
DESCRIPTION:Case management and clinical skills supervision are integral to effective delivery of low-intensity CBT\, and PWP development and wellbeing. Once PWPs have completed the supervisor training\, there is often a lack of ongoing CPD to ensure supervisor skills are continually improving\, and supervisors are ensuring they are maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the growing and evolving evidence base\, to ensure they are meeting the needs of diverse PWPs. \nThis one-day workshop offers a refresher to existing PWP supervisors\, to consider more general supervisor competencies and skills\, such as considering risk and intersectionality\, as well as the skills specific to a low-intensity setting.  The day will include attention to the theory surrounding supervision\, and advancing supervisor competencies identified by Roth and Pilling\, and the supervision best practice guidance. There will be opportunity for reflection on your supervisory practice\, to enhance development and facilitate the development of an ongoing action plan.  \nThis workshop is open to PWP’s only and will be held remotely via Zoom from 09:30am to 16:30pm. \nA place on this workshop will cost £125. Please do book a place on this programme using the link below\, alternatively we can arrange for an invoice to your service/organisation. \nEnhancing Clinical Practice Workshop | LICBT Supervision Top-up (PWP workshop) | Tuesday 12th May 2026

SUMMARY:Enhancing Clinical Practice Workshop | LICBT and Menopause (PWP and MHWP) | Tuesday 13th January 2026
DESCRIPTION:This menopause workshop is tailored for Adult Psychological Practitioners to build knowledge and confidence in supporting individuals affected by menopause and perimenopause within mental health services. \nPerimenopause refers to the transitional phase leading up to menopause\, during which hormone levels fluctuate and menopausal symptoms begin. Menopause is defined as the point when menstruation has ceased for 12 consecutive months\, typically occurring between ages 45–55. Both phases can bring a range of physical and psychological changes. Crucially\, perimenopause and menopause can significantly affect mental health\, contributing to symptoms such as low mood\, anxiety\, irritability\, poor concentration\, sleep disturbances\, and a reduction in self-esteem. These symptoms may overlap with or worsen existing common mental health problems and are often under-recognised or misattributed. \nThis workshop will overview practical and evidence-based approaches to adapt low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy techniques to better support clients experiencing symptoms associated with the menopause. Emphasis will also be placed on culturally sensitive and individualised care\, acknowledging the diverse ways menopause is experienced. Using interactive case examples\, skills practice\, and group discussion\, the session will equip low-intensity practitioners with tools and confidence to address menopause-related challenges within CBT frameworks\, ensuring that those experiencing perimenopause and menopause receive informed\, compassionate\, and effective support in their mental health journey. \nThis workshop is open to both PWP’s and MHWP’s and will be held remotely via Zoom from 09:30am to 16:30pm. \nA place on this workshop will cost £125. SUMMARY:PWP masterclass: Complex Presentations at Step 2 Assessment Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:The PWP training gives a solid basis for providing a structured\, thorough step 2 assessment. This masterclass is designed to support qualified PWP’s to expand on these skills to a more advanced level\, to provide optimal care for all patients\, but particularly those whose presentations may not be straightforward. A range of engaging teaching methods are used throughout the day to provide an optimal engaging experience and to cater for different learning styles including lectures\, small and large group discussions\, individual reflection and skills practice. The content of the masterclass will cover the context and evidence-base surrounding the topic and defining complexity and understanding its development. A focus will be on recognising complex presentations and severe mental health disorders\, how to effectively differentiate between them and how these can present in the context of a step 2 assessment. It will explore effective information gathering\, information giving and resourcing when there is a complex or significant mental health/risk history\, in a context of delivering trauma-informed care. Many PWP’s will need to make referrals to other services\, like secondary care\, so there will be exploration through reflecting on this experience and preparation for making effective referrals. It will also focus on some of the interpersonal difficulties PWP’s can encounter and struggle within the unique context of step 2 assessments\, such as dealing with interpersonal difficulties within an assessment\, knowing how to effectively give information if you aren’t sure the service can meet their needs\, managing expectations and having difficult conversations. \nThis masterclass is designed for qualified PWPs. The content of the masterclass will cover topics like the background and evidence-base for groups at step 2\, how to determine whether someone will benefit from a psychoeducational group\, how to confidently ‘sell’ groups to a patient\, how to deal with anxiety and ambiguity around groups (for patients and practitioners). It will also focus on how to develop your own evidence-based\, engaging and effective group sessions and how this can help with an effectively run service. It will look at groups used in other contexts and what we can learn for a low-intensity context. There will be sections on how to upskill other PWPs to run groups and how to ensure group facilitation is part of all PWPs’ job role. It will examine some of the interpersonal difficulties PWPs can encounter in a group environment\, managing expectations\, having difficult conversations and common difficulties encountered by patients and practitioners and how to overcome them. \nThis masterclass is designed for qualified PWPs. SUMMARY:PWP masterclass: Supporting Treatment for Panic Disorder Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:The Panic Disorder Masterclass is designed to support qualified PWP’s to develop clinical competency and confidence with the effective assessment and treatment of mild to moderate presentations of panic disorder\, utilizing two key step 2 interventions; cognitive restructuring and behavioural experiments. A range of engaging teaching methods are used throughout the day to provide an optimal engaging experience and to cater for different learning styles including lectures\, small and large group discussions\, individual reflection and skills practice. The content of the masterclass will cover what is panic disorder and the evidence surrounding its treatment in a Talking Therapies setting\, the clinical presentation of patients who indicate panic disorder\, what to look for in a step 2 assessment and how to differentiate it from other disorders. It explores the evidence-base\, the rationale and the different stages of cognitive restructuring and behavioural experiments at Step 2\, including the importance of effective psychoeducation. Finally\, it will explore when cognitive restructuring and behavioural experiments are clinically indicated to use at step 2 (inclusion/exclusion criteria)\, when to step up for step 3 interventions and common difficulties encountered by patients and practitioners and how to overcome them. \nThis masterclass is designed for qualified PWPs. SUMMARY:Reflective Practice for Medical Professionals
DESCRIPTION:This CPD workshop comprises three half-day reflective practice training sessions\, all delivered remotely. \nThese workshops will be held on: \n\n21st November 2024 (AM)\n4th December 2024 (AM)\n13th January 2025 (AM)\n\nReflective practice can be a powerful tool for personal and professional development\, and it now sits centrally within the training of competent and effective practitioners. \nReflective practice is an approach to our professional role and duties that helps us consider our actions and learn from experience. Effective reflective practice enables us to consider diverse perspectives\, thereby facilitating multidisciplinary working and increasing accountability for our professional decision-making. It involves thinking analytically about our practice and examining our assumptions to gain new understanding. Because reflection and self-reflection help us to learn from our experience\, ongoing reflective practice can improve our knowledge and skills and enhance our professional competence and development. \nThis three half-day workshop provides the knowledge and skills around reflective practice for medical doctors (including Specialist and Associate Specialist doctors) intending to apply for Approved Clinician (AC) status via the portfolio route. \nThis CPD training is exclusive to Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust staff for this cohort. If you are interested in similar training for yourself or your service\, please get in touch at createprojects-cedar@exeter.ac.uk. \nThis course will cost £350 per person for the three half days. There is a minimum cohort size of 10; therefore\, the cost will be £3500 and then £350 for every additional attendee.
