Family Therapy for Eating Disorders (FT-AN)
This intensive 4-day training provides an overview of the Family Therapy for Eating Disorders model (FT-AN), often referred to as the Maudsley Approach. This treatment model places strong emphasis on family working and involvement, and supports the family to take a more active role in finding ways to overcome their child’s difficulties. The course also provides an understanding of other disordered eating diagnoses including Bulimia Nervosa.
This course is suitable for clinical staff working within a multi-disciplinary CYP team working directly with young people with diagnosed eating disorders and disordered eating, including Nurses, Psychologists, Family Therapist, Psychiatrists, Dieticians and Paediatricians for example.
Aims
- To introduce the research base and theoretical underpinning of the Maudsley approach and support theory to practice understanding. To promote evidence-based practice in the treatment of Eating Disorders (NICE, 2017).
- To provide an overview of the systemic philosophy and ethos of this approach.
- To support and emphasise good team and collaborative working and provide space for staff to reflect on their treatment pathways and MDT involvement.
- To support the development of the skills and knowledge required to start applying this model in clinical practice.
A place on this training will cost £250. If you wish to book a place, please use the following link: Family Therapy for Eating Disorders (FT-AN).
